Amitābha Buddha is one of the Five Wisdom Buddhas and the principal Buddha of the Lotus Family in the Western direction. He represents the Wisdom of Discriminating Insight – the wisdom that perceives the unique characteristics of all phenomena. His body is red, and he performs the meditation mudra with both hands. He symbolizes boundless compassion. He is also a symbol of the purification of greed, transforming it into the Wisdom of Discriminating Insight.
